Details

In honor of National Reading Month, we are looking for student groups & Individual students to collect new or gently used children's books to donate to local organizations to share the joy of reading within our community.
Will you help us meet our 600-book goal?

This is a collection drive and service hours are awarded based on the number of qualifying books that are collected.

Books that qualify
  • Books of varying languages
  • Books of various cultures
  • Books on animals
  • Books on colors and pre-K concepts
  • Books for grades K-5
  • age appropriate manga/comic/graphic novels are allowed
Books that do NOT qualify
  • Evengelical or religious specific books
  • Damaged, torn pages or covers
  • books that are wirtten in or defaced with stickers and advertising
  • Books meant for young adult and adult readers
  • Absolutely no foul language or derrogotory terminology is allowed
  • Absolutely no inappropriate imagery is allowed
  • Coloring books
  • puzzle or grade level workbooks
Service Hours awarded based on how many you (individually) collect
10-20 books will be awarded .50 service hour
20-30 books will be awarded 1 service hour
30-50 books will be awarded 2 service hours
50 + books will be awarded 3 service hours

Books can be brought to the CSU Student Activities Department (CSU 173). Make sure a Mavs in Action leader, Crystal Watts, or a front desk staff member can verify your books to make sure they qualify so you can get service hours.
